When looking for websites and other ressources about Esperanto, there will be many that are no longer functioning. It is natural, as there has been waves of increased interest for the language, enthusiasts who did a lot for a period, and then each wave faded and the enthusiasm with it, so that pages were updated less frequent, and in the end possibly abandoned.
Often, there are links elsewhere to these pages, and the links then stop working, and if “elsewhere” isn’t updated either, you will then run into those dead links.
Don’t worry too much about that, though – just make it a habit to save the links that work and that you want to use or share, and everything will be fine :)
This phenomenon exists for many topics, not just Esperanto, and the Internet doesn’t have any automatic clean-up mechanisms, so we will probably see more and more of it the older the Internet becomes.
But it is, admitted, a bit sad to see that something you were excited to discover isn’t there anymore. Luckily, there is something else instead – you just have to find it. And when you do, please share it, so that others can enjoy it too.
Some websites may require a login, and some even a payment. Most, however, were at the time of being added to the list, available for everybody with no restrictions.
